The Thursday sessions at the Cumberland are still going ahead as normal. There might be a “summer break” from the Sunday sessions during August – more information to follow.

Thanks to Allan for sending the link to this one – can someone lend Dot the internet so she can see how the new hair-do looks? :-)
Vicky Lee’s beautiful marquetry table-tops at the Cumberland Arms
Many thanks to Allan Smith for the photo’s. I am hoping to see Vicky soon so will ask if she has an original photo – as Allan pointed out, the tables were a bit grubby so the photo does not do the marquetry full justice.
Vicky has also done some stunning marquetry on ukuleles and guitars that you might see around at The Cumberland and elsewhere in Newcastle from time to time.
This photo does not do justice to Vicky’s work either unfortunately:

Lovely Misspent Uke and Friends Gig at Rowlands Gill Highfield Social Club last night
Gig in aid of charity to send local volunteers to work at a Romanian Orphanage. Dot at the helm doing a sterling job – as well as wielding the kazoo with even more than usual gusto on “Pencil Full of Lead”. Tasty strawberries at the buffet and Charlie won a Barbie-type necklace and earrings set in the raffle :-)

I saw these at the Edinburgh Festival last year, when they went under the name of “The Ukes Are Coming!” – and they are brilliant!
