Many thanks to members of the audience who filmed some of our songs on Sunday when we played Ukes@The Globe!

Misspent Uke @ The Globe, Newcastle upon Tyne

It was an unusual gig! A huge digger down the street had cut through the electricity cables – luckily a couple of band members had brought along battery-powered amps “just in case” – then there were the noisy road diggers right outside the door and torrential rain pounding down!

Lack of light stopped play after the second set – but it really was a great gig!

A good time was had by all and they have invited us back to play again on 10 Dec!

UPDATE! Misspent Uke “Olympic Torch” Gig – Sat 16th June – new venue!

Due to Gibside being waterlogged, the Rowlands Gill & Highfield Community Festival has been moved to Rowlands Gill Methodist Church – and there is not enough space on stage at the new venue for everyone who has signed up to play.

Dot and Fiona have contacted everyone who they need on stage in order to get through the set list and are very sorry that they cannot include everyone tomorrow.

If anyone else wants to come along to watch the various events, they would be very welcome at the new venue:

UPDATES – Thurs 7th and Sunday 10th June!

Thursday 7th June – The Cumberland Arms – 6:00 til . . . ?

Misspent Uke and mates are playing during the day with Lucy Falkenau (banjo) and Karl Barlow (bass) from The Attic Band at a charity gig Karl has organised at the Sleekburn Woodfuel Centre.

They expect to make it back to The Cumberland Arms, tired but happy, in time for a 6:00 start.  However, they also expect to peg-out about half time – so the rest of you will have to make it up as you go along after that :-)

(I won’t be at either Sleekburn or The Cumberland Arms as I have got a nasty bug and will be coughing and spluttering my way back to bed in a minute, dammit!)

Sunday 10th June – NO session at The Biscuit Factory:

Misspent Uke and friends are also playing at the Jubilee Garden Party at St Gabriel’s Church, Heaton on Saturday 6th June, so would like the day off on Sunday – so no Sunday session at The Biscuit Factory this week.

Ah! Memories . . .  three lovely Ukettes – Niccola, Sara and Heather – snapped by Allen after performing “Mr Sandman” at the October 2011 Misspent Uke and Friends gig at St Gabriel’s Church.

Lovely Misspent Uke and Friends Gig at Rowlands Gill Highfield Social Club last night

Gig in aid of charity to send local volunteers to work at a Romanian Orphanage.  Dot at the helm doing a sterling job – as well as wielding the kazoo with even more than usual gusto on “Pencil Full of Lead”.  Tasty strawberries at the buffet and Charlie won a Barbie-type necklace and earrings set in the raffle :-)

Misspent Uke and Friends Gig – Crisis Skylight Newcastle – Wed 23 March 2011 – 7:00pm

Crisis Skylight Newcastle is an education, training and employment centre for homeless and vulnerably-housed people, located in the heart of Newcastle. Classes include Art, ESOL, ICT and Digital Photography.   Support is offered from the staff team who provide advice and guidance and help members to achieve their chosen goals and move forward with their lives.

“Misspent Uke and Friends” are providing the entertainment for a fundraising event at Crisis Skylight Newcastle on Wednesday 23 March at 7:00

If you are not playing but would like to attend then Alan, who is a volunteer at Crisis Skylight Newcastle, says to bring your uke if you would like to join in from the floor. Tickets are £6 (includes a “Northumbrian buffet supper”). Please book in advance to avoid disappointment and feel free to bring your own wine, beer, etc. – there are no alcoholic drinks served but the venue has a drinks licence.

Please pass this on to anyone who might be interested in being entertained by Misspent Uke and Friends in aid of a worthy cause!
