Ukulele Groups, Clubs, Sessions and Classes in the North East and Cumbria

If you have been along to The Cumberland Arms on a Thursday between 6:00 and 8:00 lately then you will know that we are bursting at the seams!

To help spread the uke-lurve more widely, I invited all the other uke groups, clubs, sessions and classes in the North East and East Cumbria to pool information about uke-meets.  Clubs from even further afield have since added details to the list, eg. Cockermouth.

The list with all details is here: http://j.mp/NEukesList

Added so far to list (see link above for further details):

  1. Billingham – aroha2aloha
  2. Carlisle – Carlisle Ukulele Club
  3. Cockermouth – Cockermouth Ukulele Players (CUP aka Cock-Up!)
  4. Darlington – Ukulele Express
  5. Durham – Durham City Uke Group
  6. Gateshead – Wardley Ukes
  7. Hexham – Core Music Ukes Group
  8. Hexham – Core Music Junior Beginners Class
  9. Hexham – Core Music Junior Intermediate Class
  10. Mickley – Ukes of Northumberland
  11. Morpeth – Uke In Style at the Tap and Spile
  12. Newbiggin-by-the-Sea – Wild Ukes O’ Wanny
  13. Newcastle upon Tyne – Biscuit Factory Ukes
  14. Newcastle upon Tyne – Ukes4Fun
  15. Skelton – Cleveland Ukulele Fraternity
  16. South Shields – North East Branch of the George Formby Society
  17. The Sage, Gateshead – Adult Ukulele Classes
  18. Whickham – Tune Army

The form to add information about other clubs/groups/classes is here:  http://j.mp/NEukesForm

We would like to encourage ukulele tutors at The Sage and elsewhere to pass the full list here  http://j.mp/NEukesList on to their students, rather than direct everyone to Ukes4Fun.

UPDATE: April 2012
Some other places you can look for uke-action or can list your group/club/sessions:

Best wishes,

Lizzie

    Hi
I have a friend who is part of the silver programme at the Sage Gateshead. She hasd been learning the ukelele in a group for about a year. She has a wonderful time and reallyu enjoys herself. I would love to belong to such a group but I live in Thornaby on Tees, Is there any such group near whereI live or could any of your contacts be persuaded to start one. I would be so grateful to hear from you. Thank you in anticipation.
    Ann Garrard
